Organize for America will be having a potluck to discuss the President’s plan for handling the financial crisis on Tuesday, April 6th, 5:30 to 7:30 at 2200 22nd St. They will be creating a Facebook group and will be demonstrating how to participate. San Miguel Commemorative Grove Clean Up Project
Bring your work gloves and a pitch fork, if you have one, on Saturday, November 21 and help make San Miguel Commemorative Park beautiful. The city is having trouble maintaining the park because of the budget cuts so they have teamed up with the Tree Foundation of Kern to maintain the grove. Clean-up begins at 9 AM and lasts approximately 4 hours. The grove is located at Manor and Denise Streets right across the street from the Calvary Bible Church. Please sign-up below. Humanitarian Day
We need Volunteers and Donations
All around America, communities are coming together and forming coalitions to feed the homeless. It is an ideal opportunity for our community to extend a hand to help the less fortunate in Bakersfield who may be hungry, homeless and jobless. You are invited to join our effort to treat those less fortunate with dignity, love, and respect in the spirit of uplifting humanity.
The Coalition to Preserve Human Dignity is hosting Bakersfield Humanitarian Day 2009 from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, at King and South Owens Street. A free lunch will be provided from noon to 1:30 p.m. There will be free food, hygiene kits, and quality gift items for the homeless and those in need.
The Linus Project
Children from Stop the Violence need a ride to Project Linus this Saturday, September 12th . If you can transport children and maybe spend the morning helping out at project Linus, www.projectlinus.org (they make blankets for ill or traumatized children) please give Sean Battle a call (661) 427-3993 or comment below. You will need to be at the Stop the Violence office at Martin Luther King Park by 7:15 AM. Help bring some comfort to others.

Graffiti Cover-up and Trash Clean-up
Join us on July 11th, 8am to noon, to paint over graffiti and pick up trash in and around MLK park. There will be a BBQ at the end. Bring work gloves, hats, sunscreen and a smile.
